GATE signature 4 KB to 30 KB and photo size
The GATE application form asks for a signature between 4 KB and 30 KB, and a photo in the 5–200 KB range, both as JPG. The signature band is unusually low at the bottom end, which is why so many people search for this exact size.
You don't have to hit 4 KB — that's just the floor. Anywhere inside 4–30 KB is accepted, so target closer to 30 KB whenever the portal allows it. Always cross-check the current GATE information brochure, and if a number differs, follow your portal's exact requirement.
- Signature: 4–30 KB, JPG — aim near 30 KB for legibility.
- Photo: 5–200 KB, JPG — aim high for a sharp face.
- Both files are uploaded separately.
Honest note: 4 KB is tiny — here's how to keep it readable
Let's be straight with you: 4 KB is a very small file for a signature, and squeezing down to it will visibly soften the strokes. Some loss of sharpness is unavoidable at that size. That's why 4 KB is the minimum, not the goal.
If the portal accepts anything up to 30 KB, target 28–30 KB instead — your signature stays clean and still passes. If you genuinely need to go very low, sign with a thick dark pen on white paper, crop tightly so no margin is wasted, and keep the pixel size small (around 140×60). The app will find the best quality that fits your KB target, but it can't add detail that a 4 KB file simply can't hold.
Resize the GATE photo and batch both at once
The photo range stretches to 200 KB, so keep it comfortably high — type a target near 190 KB and you'll have a crisp, examiner-friendly photo well inside the limit.
Everything runs offline on your own PC. The upload sites that rank for "gate signature 4kb to 30kb" send your files to someone else's server and do one at a time; here you drop your photo and signature together, set each KB target, and export both without uploading anything.
